Happy Friday! I reviewed Cocoon for Polygon, the newest game from Limbo and Inside veterans Jakob Schmid and Jeppe Carlsen. It’s out today, and, to my mind, it’s the perfect weekend game. Four to six hours long, and as satisfying as anything you’ll play this year. I wholly recommend playing it on as large of an OLED screen as you can, as, without spoiling anything, it does some interesting things with true-black in the late game that I feel are worth seeing on a big screen.
On that note, the game runs well, if not perfectly, on a Steam Deck, if you happen to have one. I imagine this will improve as patches go out, which is great, because it’s also a great handheld experience. Still, at the time of writing, it will periodically hitch as you transition between worlds on the Deck, which doesn’t ruin the experience by any means, but is definitely notable. (I have no clue how it runs on Switch, unfortunately.)
Minor Deck issues aside, I can’t recommend it highly enough! Go forth, puzzle fans, and be merry.
